Members of the Rifle Club are holding a trophy shoot on the range on Thursday. Handicaps will be " announced later. At the.,Supremo Court at Wanganui W. P. Garner, "of Taihape, on a charge of failing to keep proper books three years before his bankruptcy, was found guilty, states the Press Association. A Pahiatua P.A. message states that an old-age pensioner named Chris Nelsoe was found dead in bed in his whare at Hamua to-day. Deceased was an old identity and lived alone. Mr Hill, the newly appointed secretary to the Stratford A. and P. Association was to-day in Stratford and was being introduced round town bv Mr Fearon, retiring secretary. The Minister of Public Works has received information from the Engineer in charge oi* the Otira Tunnel that the men haVe agreed to resume work immediately ori condition that they receive day wages until the end of the month ,after which they will cany on the work under the smallcontract system.—P. A. Allegations regarding irregularities in the Lyttelton Harbor Board election are being considered at a judical inquiry (states a Christehurch Press Association telegram). Petitioners allege that votes had been improperly disallowed to one candidate, Mr D. Sykes (defeated), and oilier voters were improperly allowed lo Mr J. Storry, who was elactad.
