The management committee of* the New Zealand Rugby Union met tonight atfd 1 considered arrangements for the inter-island match. The date was fixed for June 20th, at Wellington, and the following selectors were appointed:—North Island, Messrs Lynskey (Wellington), Gallagher (Auckland), and Malone (Taranaki); South Island, Messrs Wilson (Canterbury), Harris (Otago), and Hassell (South Canterbury). Nominations are due with the secretary of the Ne\fr Zealand Umon by June 4th.
The Committee agreed to a loan of £750 to the Hawke’s Bay Union. , SATURDAY’S MATCH. There should he a Ipig crowd of spectators at the Showground on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of the Senior match between Stratford and Tukapa. Stratford has put a good team in the field and those who attend can look forward to a game. The kick-off is at 3 o’clock. In the list of Stratford players given yesterday, the names of Bonnor and Brown were inadvertently omitted. YESTERDAY’S MATCHES. The junior competition was continued yesterday. Stratford met Tukapa at New Plymouth, and suffered defeat by fifteen points to nil. The ground was fairly dry, but a cold, drizzling raih fell during the first spell, making the ball difficult to handle. The first spell was not very brilliant, but in the second spell both sides showed some fine football. W. Whitaker (Tukapa), after scoring a try in the first spell, suffered a broken collar-bone. Whitaker’s try, which was not converted, was the only score in the first spell. In the second spell tries were scored by Loveridge and Graham (2), and Weston kicked a penalty goal. Mr Petty refereed. Star met Clifton at Waitara, the game being an interesting forward one. Soon 'after starting, Godfrey {Star) retired with a broken collarbone. Star scored first—an unconverted try. Before the spell ended, Clifton scored a try which was converted. The second spell was well contested, Clifton again scoring a try, Waka converting. Mr 0. West gave general satisfaction as referee. New Plymouth High School met Inglewood, at Inglewood, in a howling gale. Play was chiefly confined to the forwards. The only score was registered well on in the second spell, Pott (High School) scrambling over. The major points were not added. The major points were not added. Mr J. H. Thompson acted as referee.
