LOANS FORESHADOWED. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, May 6. Speaking at the installation ceremony' to-day, the Mayor, Mr J. P. Luke, foreshadowed big loan proposals for various works, spreading over a number of years. The total amount involved is over £300,000. Of this, |£220,000 is estimated to be required for general works, including a traffic tunnel to Hataitai, £70,000; woodblocking, £(31,000, and the balance for suburban street improvement, parks and baths. A tramway loan of £96,000 is requirod for various duplications and extensions of tracks, new cars, and sheds. Special expenditure/ on tramways and motor buses, amounting to £21,000, is contemplated out of revenue.
