I The Irish Parliament receives an 'extra half million a year under the Budget instead of grants to local authorities. The autumn session will probably deal with legislation arising out of the Budget. Many Ministerialists made strong representation against, an autumn session and declared they would not attend the House of Commons. WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE REJECTED. Received 10.30 a.m.) London, May 6. Lord Selbourne's Women's Suffrage Bill was rejected by 101 votes to 60. "AN UNCHECKED INITIATOR." (Received 10.35 a.m.) London May 6. Mr Chamberlain criticised the Budget for the abandonment of the old Liberal policy of retrenchment. He described Mr Lloyd-George aB an unchecked initiator" Of-social ■reform*;--Mr Montague replied that the unequal distribution or wealth was indefensible, unless it could be shown that the possessors made an adequate contribution to State requirements. He emphasised the fact that capital was growing faster than taxes. The present administration's reduction of the National Debt saved three millions a year in interest. .
