UNION WILL ENFORCE RULES. Sydney, April 29. As the outcome of a discussion at ,the recent conference of the Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia as to whether application should be made to the Arbitration Court for cancellation of the award and to revert to the old method of strikes as a means of, adjusting grievances, the executive has circularised all branches emphasising the fact that the Union has definitely decided to abide by the award, and members are duly warned that it is the intention of the executive to strictly enforce the rules. In every case where breaches are proved, they will have no hesitation in inflicting penalties. COLONIAL SUCAR CO. Sydney, Apri} 29. At the half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. the report stated .that the net profits in Australia were £133,761. and in Fiji and New Zealand,£l3o,ooo, to which the balance of £52,019 was added, leaving a total available of ,£315,780. A dividend at the rate of 10 per cent would 'absorb £^62-,5Q0, r .and a '..bonus of 5s per share £40,025, leaving £1i2,655 to bo carried forward. "<' t The estimates of last season's crops were more than realised. The sugar output of both Australia and Fiji far exceeded any previous year's. Next season's prospects were on the whole satisfactory, good rains having fallen in the sugar districts of Australia, but the weather in Fiji was rather dry. Deliveries of refined sugar were well maintained. No change is prices ri had taken place during the half-year, the large production in Cuba now tending to depress the values in the world's markets. - ■• '
