Two torpedoes proceeded to the Taion when they found that the captain of the Taion had been shot and several of the pirates were dead. The Portuguese watchman displayed great gallantry, shooting the pirates till the vessel caught fire. His fate is unknown. The wife of Captain Kometa, who was thrown into the sea when a boat capsized, swam for two hours to keep clear of the burning oil floating on the water. HOLD FULL OF CORPSES. GALLANT WATCHMAN RESCUED. (Received 9 a.m.) Hongkong, April 29. The Taion's hold was crowded with corpses. The gallant Portuguese watchman, Dias, was amongst the rescued.
