SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The following are additional result o! elections at the annual meeting of housoholdors on Monday night :
Whaugamomona.—Thine was a lull house ;U. the school and .Mr T. Bradlety, chairman of the old committee, occupied the chair. The animal report read by the secretary (Mr K. (i. \'":\\\ kner), disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs regarding the school. Much progress has been made during the year for the greater comfort and convenience of the children, including new metal paths and yards, levelling and sowing and subdividing of the school paddock, fences planted with ornamental shrubs at intervals along the road line and a children's garden scheme inaugurated. The social aspect, too, has been well catered for in the direction of eoncerts, socials, and a monster excursion to New Plymouth—after all of which the social account shows a substantial balance—a pleasing proof of the interest taken by the local public in school affairs. After discussion the recommendations of the School Committees Association were approved oi. the resolution to be forwarded to the .Minister for Education. The balancesheet of the school account was then read and adopted, hut not before several speakers aired their grievance against the Government for not allowing more liberal capitation to small country schools, who are thus vastly handicapped against schools of larger attendance, but not proportionately larger upkeep. For instance, it was stated that the capitation' for the school this year was about £IG, while the cost of clearing alone was £TS per annum.
