Chinese Pirates.
BURN BRITISH STEAMER. ________ ( NEARLY 200 MISSING. [By Eleoteio Telegraph—Copteight] {United Press Assoctatxon.l Hong Kong, April 28. Pirates from Kiau, north-west of Macao Island, held up and burned the British steamer Taion. The chief officer, F. Evans, and ISO persons are missing. Several were wounded, including some of the pirates. Incoming steamers rescued Captain Weatherell, the chief engineer, and 157 passengers and members of the crew. NO EUROPEAN PASSENCERS. THE PIRATES AT WORK. Hongkong, April J^i There were no Europeans among the Taion's passengers. It is feared two hundred perished. The pirates shipped as passengers and overpowered the deck hands, and a fierce struggle followed with the officers. The engines were stopped, the steering gear disabled, and the steamer was fired.
