STRATFORD GOLF CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. T!io annual meeting of members of the Stratford Golf Club was iield last night. Mr A. W. Budge, president, being in the chair. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr Budge said that the financial affairs of the club were in a flourishing state. A debit of £25 odd at the end of last year had been wiped ofl and the year had been ended with a credit of £'k This reflected great credit on the executive and the secretary—especially the secretary. The operations for the '.oar included an expenditure of £ll !6s 8d on improvements to the pari- : ion. Mr 1. R. L. Stanford seconded. Ho .aid the finances were highly satisfactory for so small a did) and one which was so young. A feature ol the hal-uue-sheet was that it showed over Cloo collected from subscriptions and showed only £2 10s outstanding, and is £2 of this had since come in they were finishing the year very well. This state of affairs reflected great credit m the secretary. The motion was carried without furdior discussion. NEW MEMBERS. The following new members wow fleeted: Mesdames Lawrey and S. ■•{pence, Messrs H. C. Alexander, W. T. Reeve and A. I). Stanley. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Officers for the ensuing year were fleeted as follows: President, Mr A. ,V. Budge; vice-presidents, Messrs H. fl. Wiight and F. P. Uniacke; secreary and treasurer, Mr E. S. Ru thev urcl; captain, Mr S. Spence; auditor Air P. Skoglund; committee, Messr- * >. Macalister, F. X. Fussell, H. E. ibraham and J. R. L. Stanford. OPENING |DAY. The opening day was fixed for Apri; 6th. LEASE OF THE LINKS. The chairman said the present lease if the links expired in October, 1915. Re asked the meeting to express a: .pinion as to whether or not a change vas desirable. Mr Fussell said it might be advis dflo co at once approach the Racing ,'luh for the purpose of securing an iption ofr a renewal of the lease. Mr Stanford said there was no hurry or action, at least before the next 'unual meeting. -' Dr. Paget sa id the Golf Club should know as early a.s possible if a change was desired by the Racing Club, as hey would probably have to move on to freehold ground if they moved at ill. Mr Fussell said he desired an indicaiou of the feeling of members as to whether, they themselves desired a fliauge. Mr H. C. Wright said it would take overal years for the Club to get over . ho acquisition of a freehold property, flersonally, lie thought that members fliouM stick to the present ground. Dr. Paget moved that the commiteo approach the Racing Club with the ■flea of getting a definite statement is to whether the lease will be renew'd. If the present committee of the Racing Club' did not desire the Golf flub to stay on the ground, there would soon bo a new committee of the Racing Club who might take a different view. With permission a resolution was oassed, on the motion of Mr Fussell, ■'.'.pressing the desire of members to remain on the ground if suitable ‘Terms can be made, alter which Dr. Paget’s motion was passed. VOTES OF THANKS. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring secretary, the auditor, the donors of trophies and to the ladies for assistance during the past year. ROLLING THE LINKS. Mr Jackson moved that it he a recommendation to the committee that the greens ho rolled before Saturday competition days. Ho said it was unfair for Saturday players to play on the same basis of handicap as Thursday players, when the greens had been worn by the Thursday players and the ladies on Friday. The motion was carried. TROPHIES DONATED. Trophies for the coming season were promised by Messrs Budge, \V. J. Crawshaw, J. H. Thompson and F. P. I’niacke.
