MURDER IN FIJI.
INDIAN BRUTALLY ATTACKED. News of a murder of an indentured Indian named Gobind at TJda Kacu, in the district of Taviuni was brought to Sydney by the island steamer Tofua. " Another Indian was soon brandishing a knife, and striking at some object lying in the long grass, but it was not until the Indian had run away that Gobind was discovered gasping heavily for breath. His nook was severely cut, his head split open, and his arm badly cut. A doctor was immediately sent for, but the man died shortly after.
An Indian named Bnchu was arrested, and brought before Air A. \V. Campbell, Commissioner at Taviuni, on February 24, and the evidence disclosed the fact that the two men had quarrelled over a proposal to combine their earnings to enable one to have his identure commuted. The quarrel lasted some time, and was finally brought to a head by a woman leaving the accused for the murdered man. -Bacilli was,committed to appear at the Supreme Court, Suva.
