MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.
i The election for members of the Management Committee resulted Northern Division: Messrs A. L. Hum. phries 28, Jas. McLeod 25, J. Garcia 18 (elected), J. Buchanan 14, Do Launay 14. Southern Division: Lees 34, McKay 34, Moore 28 (elected), Couper 6. Mr McLeod, in returning thanks, said he regretted very much that Mr Buchanan had gone out by the will of the delegates, but what they were trying to avoid had actually happened—they had elected three members of the Northern Division,, from the town, but if they had agreed to the syllabus of four in each division, he was sure they would have had a moie general division. Mr Buchanan, in returning thanks, regretted he was not going to work with them this year, although he would still take an active interest in the good old game. He had a delegate now for 16 years, and this was the third time he got “bumped,” but he would still keep on smiling. He hoped the affairs of the Union woidd go ,on and prosper. It was quite true what Mr McLeod had said about the election resulting in favour of the town men, but it may perhaps lie better, as they could work together better.
Mr De Launay also thanked his supporters. He could take a beating like his club—they were used to it. HEP. MATCHES IN STRATFORD.
Mj; Jackson said he regretted that in the past season the Union had not seen fit to have representative matches played in Stratford. In Stratford there was a sport-loving public who would patronise big football. He was sure the gates would be excellent. There were, last year, only a few matches in Stratford, and even North-South match was taken to Eltham. If representative matches were played in Stratford, the public would he educated up to them, and Stratford would then send a good contingent to representative matches in New Plymouth and Hawera. Mr Spurdle suggested that for chib matches the north train should be stopped at the ground. If tin's were done the gates at Stratford would be * larger. Mr Masters said representations had been made to the Railway Department, who refused the request, largely, he thought, because of the risk of accident. It was said that to provide a siding would cost £BOO. GENERAL. ‘ . ' Mr Smith said he would like to see a representative match—say one of the B’s—played 1 at Inglewood, seeing that Stratford were asking for a similar match. They could accommodate a good crowd on the sports ground.
It was decided that in future the uecessai*y time before the annual meeting for the closing of notices of motion should be extended from seven days to fourteen days. On Mr Crowley’s suggestion a recommendation was made to the Management Committee that the rule calling on referees to see that all teams play in the club’s colors be strictly enforced. '■ > ; ;
Mr Buchanan gave notice of motion to move at ’next annual meeting that two vice-presidents be elected, one from the northern and one from the southern division.—Seconded by Mr Lees. '■ •
Mr A. Coleman was re-appointed ■ auditor and Ins honorarium was raised from two to three guinea's.—Mr De Launay suggested that the auditor should meet the Management Committee and submit details of, his recommendations.—The chairman said ho understood this would he done.—lt was decided as far as possible the auditor’s recommendations be given effect to. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. At a subsequent meeting of the Management Committee Mr McLeod was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Providing that the Eltham Club do not enter a team, it. was resolved that Eltham players should be allowed during the coming season to play for any club bordering the present Eltham district. It was resolved that the northern members interview the Clifton Club re playing on Thursday. , The Moturoa Club was granted the colors all white. Mr R. Masters was appointed the Union’s representative on the management committee. Messrs A. Lees, the chairman and secretary were appointed an executive. The next meeting will be held on Friday, April 18. TARANAKI REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. Bellringer (president of the Association), in the chair; T. "Tmchanan (chairman of the executive), A. Lees, J. S. McKay, F. Spurdle, and the secretary (Mr C. H. Potts). The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l4 12s. Officers were elected as follows: President, the president of the T.R.U.; secretary, Mr C. H. Potts; delegates to T.R.U., Mr F. Spurdle. The secretary was voted an honorarium of £3 3s. The president, secretary and chairman of the executive will convene a meeting in New Plymouth to endeavor to create pi ore interest.
