‘ The Stratford A, and P. Association’s officers are now busily engaged in the calves that were donated by ‘supporters' some time'ago. It has been arranged to sell tl\em next Tuesday, 31st March. All three of the local auctioneers will sell in conjunction, and as there are some very fine animals amongst , the number, persons wanting “classy” animals should make a point of being present. . The calves will be judged in {the morning ; by{Messrs J-, Corrigau,,.E, Wheatley; and A. H. Street, and sold about 4.45 pan.
Levin reports per Press Association: Mr Robertson, M.P. for Otaki, addressed a crowded meeting at Levin on Friday night. He strongly condemned; the Massey Government for snpineness in the early stages of the watersiders’ strike, and failure to carry out their promise to reduce taxation. The taxation in New Zealand now' was greater per head than ever before, and the Massey Government stood up as a hideous failure before the eyes of the wdiole country. A vote of thanks and confidence w'as carried, an amendment voting thanks only being outvoted.
