THE WATERS SUBSIDING.
• ' Gisborne, March 25. The floods on the;' WaiphOa rivet is subsiding.:. Beyond t: breaking the Public Works temporary bridge, no daihage ; was 'done-at Motu. The floods are the highest for years.
A report from Port Awanui states that the-Waipu river ris in heavy flood, causing loss in sheep. The extent of,the damage is not yet known. The water is nearly up to the decking on the AVaiapu bridge, both approaches to which have been washed away. The^river is now going down.
