METHODIST PROTESTS.

The Methodist Conference decided on a vigorous pledge-signing crusade during the year. The conference recommended legislation for State option in additiqn to local option ballots on the basis of the bare majority vote. They entered protests against. Sunday military exercises and prize-fighting, protesting against the licensing of stadiums. They urged the AttorneyGeneral to refuse renewals or to authorise art unions, which were instruments of gambling. They urged all Methodists to abstain from secular engagements and unnecessary travelling on Sundays.
