In the House of Commons Mr AcJaml (I nder-Secretary for Foreign Affairs), in reply to Sir Gilbert Parker (I monist member for Gravesend), said the first suggestion of the conference regarding the New Hebrides

was made last summer. “Since then,” he continued, “France asked us to oiscuss and state in greater detail the matters we desired "to discuss. Inis was done in November after consultation with Australia and New Zealand. \\ e are hoping that France may he able to agree to a conference, which should meet at an eariv date.”
