VALUE OF COLONIAL STOCKS. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received 8.0 a.in.) Loudon, March 7. The Times, in a leader, says the fact is being recognised more widely daily that while Colonial stocks afford security equivalent iu all practical purposes to Consols, they yield considerably more interest and possess the valuable quality of being redeemable within fixed terms instead of at an option of the Government of the day. An important development lias been the establishment of four per cent, as a general rate payable by the Dominions in their long-term stocks. WHEAT AND TALLOW. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received tho following cablegram from their London lionso under dale. 4th hist. : Wheat.—We have sold an Australian cargo at 36s 9d, c.i.f. The market is quiet but steady. Tho outlook is uncertain. AVo quote per quarter c.i.f., Now Zealand wheat, long-horried, 3us; short-berried, 31s 6d. Tallow.—We quote present spot values for tho following descriptions: —Good mutton 35s per owt., good beef 33s 9d, mixed 32s Gd. The market is quiet.
