Colonials Honored.
AFTER-DINNER SPEECHES.
IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. [By Eleotbic Tkleguaph—Copyright] [United Pbeds Association.] (Received 9.35 a.m.) London, March 3.
Mr Harconrt (Colonial Secretary) presided at the Empire Parliamentarians' luncheon to Mr Denham (Premier of Queensland), and Mr Myers, M.P., New Zealand, at the House of Commons. The Duke of Argyll, Lord Bryce, Lord Plunkett, Robinson and many M.P.'s. and their wives were present.
j Lord Emmott, proposing "The iGuests," paid a tribute to Australia [and New' Zealand in the reception of i'the British Parliamentarians. Their 'social legislation was deeply interesting and was inspired by a desire to benefit the millions rather than the millionaires. Mr Denha'in advocated that State Parliaments should be incorporated in the Parliamentary Association on the same terms as the Commonwealth. Britishers often forgot that the States had sovereign rights. Mr Meyers detailed the reproductive character of the New Zealand national debt, the popularity of the defence system, and explained the tendencies of social legislation. The Duke of Argyll said the Motherland should take hints from the Dominions. The experience of the Dominions in many aspects of Democracy were older than ourselves and .had given us a lead in making patriotic sacrifices on behalf of defence.
