The New Zealand Loan and Morcancantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford .branch, report as follows: On Tuesday, 24th inst., wo held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards. Owing to the very heavy rain the previous night, there was only a small yarding of 171 head of cattle and 199 sheep. There was a fair attendance, but this was no doubt also affected by the heavy rain. Competition was keener than at the previous salo for forward and fair stock; other lines, however, were dull and only about half the cattle were sold. Prices as follows:—Store cows, for small, low conditioned -10 s, 51s to 62s 6d, fair to medium sorts 72s (id to 955, forward cows 98s to 107 s, for heavy conditioned 1475, bulls (small) 57s to 72s (id, medium to 122 s 6d, heavies 1345, 18 month steers, fandemand 65s to 69s 6d, empty heifers, dull 79s to 85s for good colored stuff, cows and calves made from 75s for small to 90s and 91s for medium, tip to 120 s for good conditioned stuff. Weaner steers, good demand for good lines from 25s for small to 27s Od for medium and up to 35s for good, lambs (small) from 5s 9d to Gs Gd, to 7s 6d, no good lines yarded. Line of small cull ewes made 6s 2d.
During the past week we have effected a large number of private sales of stock as follows:—Weaner steers, good colour and quality, sold at 25s 6d for small to 27s 6d to 32s 6d for medium and up to 33s 6d to 39s for real good lines, weaners heifers, neglected add hard to quit, 18 to 20 months steers (scarce) 69s to 71s, Ibullocks from £6 15s to £8 for killabie lines, f.m. owes, fair lines 12s to 13s 6d, 4 year old owes from 5s to 9s, 2-tooth owes from 14s to 15s Gd, lambs (good lines) 9s, Lincoln rams 3gns to 4gns, Romney rams 4$ to sgns. for real good lines, rams in lines 3igns.
NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. ,0 Wednesday, 18th inst., at Onaero, for Mr C. J. Harris' clearing sale, 1 had a good attendance of buyers and keen competition for everything offered. The dairy herd contained some very nice cows, the best of theso selling at from £S 15s to £ll ss, others in milk and calving in October at from £4 to £7, yearling heifers £2 2s, Jersey weaner heifers £2 7s Gd, grade weaner heifers £1 3s, weaner bulls £1 7s, Jersey bull £6 2s. Gd, breeding sows £1 5s to £2 10s, weaner pigs 9s Gd, drill £l7 10s, dray £lB, disc harrows £4, gig £9. On acocmit of other vendors dairy cows sold at from CI los to £l2.
On the same day ai my Stony River yards there was a fair entry, of whirl] I. was able to make a good clearance as follows :—Mixed weaners 18s to 245, 15 months' heifers £2 Gs to £2 Bs, 13 an'd 18 months steers £3 J2s, aged store cows £1 Is to £2 2s Gd, small framed stores £2 5s to £3, good storearid forward cows £3 12s Gd to £4 19s, fat cows (good £6 lis to £7-Gs, lighter fat rows £5 10s to £6 2s Gd, bulls £G 17s Gd, pedigree Berkshire hours £2 os to £5, breeiding soivs £2 to £2 12s (id, pair bullocks and dray £27, fat lambs 12s 9d, good lambs 9s 2d to |()s 4d, f.m. ewes 7s Gd.
At Awakino on Thursday I had' a full .yarding of both sheep and cattle for my annual fair. The quality and condition of the stock yarded was very fii" l . '>eiug very favorably commented upon by the buyers present from other districts, and the vendors were rewarded by obtaining brisk competition at the hammer for lines offered, the whole yarding being disposed of at very satisfactory prices, as follows:—Cows and calves £5 10s, £5 ss, £3 15s, £2 18s (3d, yearling and 15 months steers £3 lis, £3 6s, £3 2s 6d, small and colored £2 65, 22 2 year in calf heifers £3 13s to £4 10s, fat cows (very fine line) £7, others (smaller cows) £6, £5 17s 6d, £5 15s, £5 6s, store and 'forward rows £2 15s to £1 16s 6d, stags £5 10s to £6, bulls (good weights) £5 10s to £B, 18 month Holstein bulls £3, 9a r 2'i year steers (nice lino of 31 well grown Shorthorn cattle from Mahoenui) £6, small pen at £5 10s 6d, 29 good steers at £5 10s, 58 at £5, and 45 at £4 10s 6d, this last line showing a deal of color. I had a fine entry of grown bullocks with spirited' bidding, every pen being sold at the hammer at the following prices -—£B lis £B, £7 12s, £7 Bs, £7 4s, £7, £6 15s,' £6 12s, £6 6s, £6, £5 15s, the lower priced lines containing colored bullocks and short in condition, lambs 9s 4d for good lines, fit for rape, with other fair lines 7s 6d to 7s lOd, culls 4s 9d to 6s, 2-tooth ewes (small) lis 7d f m ewes 10s, 9s 4d, Ss lOd, 8s Id, 7s 7s 4d, mixed sheep 10s to 13s, fat ami forward ewes 14s Bd, 13s 3d, 13s, 12s 2d, fat and forward wethers 18s for a good 4-tooth line of 330, and 16s to 16s 9d for good store wethers. Several nice pens of 2-tooth wethers were yarded, the pick of these (a line from Mr L. JWs, Mahoenui) realising 15s 7d others from Ms 6d to 15s for good lines, and 13s 0d and 13s 7d for smaller, Bomney rams 3 and 3£gns f.m. rams 10s (id to 13s. At Okau yards- on Friday I had a full yarding of sheep and a'fair entry of cattle. The Quality of the sheep was not up to previous entries and consequently the prices wore varied. A well grown line of 73 2.J year steers was submitted by Messrs Blanchard Bros., and realised £5 8s 6d, other prices obtained were .-—Mixed weanere mostly steers £1 15s, small weaner steers £7 7s, 15 and 18 month steers £3 12s 6d, yearling and lo months steers £3 Is, Jersey 15 month steers £1 8s 6d, bulls £2 15s to £6 10s store cows £3 17s to £1 6s, fat cows £6 17s 6d, £5 4s, £5 13s 6d, springing heifers £1 10s, 2 year in calf heifers £3 10s 15 months heifers £2 15s, f.m. ewes (poor) 8s 6d, 8s sd, 7s 7d, 6s 10d 6s 9d, 6s Bd, 6s 3d, 6s, 5s 4d, os 3d, ss, 4s 6d. good pen of 4 year ewes 13s

On Friday, 20th inst., at Kaponga, for my monthly cattle salo and annual weaner fair, 1 had a very good entry and attendance, .good conditioned cows and bulls sold very readily. Vendors' reserves on weanors were in most cases much abovo buyers' limits, but in every case where Bellers were prepared to meet the market 1 was able to clear at prices which on recent sales must be considered satisfactory. Prices were : —Weaner steers' £1 13s Gd, £1 12s, £1 9s, £1 7s, £1 3s Gd, £1 2s, 14s, 10s; weaner : iulls £2 3s, £1 lis, mixed weaners £1 13s, £1 lis, £1 is, £1 0s Gd, 12s, weaner heifers £2 3s Gd, £2, £1 14s od, £1 lis Gd, £1 10s, £1 Bs, £1 3s Gd, £1 3s, £1 2s Gd, £1 Is, 19s Gd, 18s, 16s 6d, 16s, ss, bulls £3 16s to 8s Gd, in calf heifers £4 9s, small .core cows or aged £1 12s Gd to £3 *s, good store cows £3 18s to £4 ss, forward cows from £4 12s to £5 -14 s for good conditioned cows, good fat j cows £6 9s to £7 10s.
At Urenin on Monday I had a small entry, all of which 1 was able to clear .it the following prices:—Weaner steers £1 8s 6d and £1 9s 6d, mixed iveaners £1 0s Gd to £1 10s 6d, 3*vear steers to £4 9s, small fat cows £5 6s to £5 14s 6d, good £6 14s, bulls £3 15s to £6 17s Gd, springing heifers £5 10s, mixed fat sheep (very fine) £l, good .•ape lambs 10s 4d, mixed wethers poor lot) 10s, f.m. ewes 6s to Ss. On Tuesday, 24th inst., at my Hahotu yards, considering the wet weather, I had a fair entry, of which 1 cleared everything as follows: Weaner steers £1 13s 6d, £1 lis Gd, £1 7s Gd, £1 2s, weaner heifers 15s, mixed weaners £1 ss, good line of wellgrown 18-month steers £3 Is Gd, 15 and 18-month steers (rough) £2 17s :o £3 .'ls, bulls £3 10s to £6, store cows £3 8s 6d to £3 18s, for wand cows 24 15s 6d to £5 15s.
