The Taranaki Herald, after a length} criticism of Sir Joseph Ward's speecr at W.nton, arrives at the conclusion that: Holding •'inquests" upon tin past, does not appeal to the greai majority of the electors, who .wan! action rather than talk. In Taranaki the Ward .Ministry was discard ed chiefly because it failed to gm the back-blocks reasonable transpori facilities,, and the Massey Ministry will be judged in a great measure by what it does in that direction. The financial difficulties of the past year or two have been recognised, but now that they are relaxed Taranaki will certainlv look for a more progressive roading policy and for the pushing on of the Stratford-Main Trunk Railway at a rate that will ensure ib completion before another decade ha* passed away and many of the settler? who have waited so patiently for it have passed away too.
