EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Taranaki Education Board yesterday there -were present, Messrs H. Trimble (chairman), W. L; Kennedy, G. A. Adlam, R. Masters, A. M. Bradbury, J. Young, Rogers, and A. Morton, Technical College Report* The director of technical education (Mr A. Gray)) reported inter aliai—* : Night Classes.—Ho proposed to pay $s per hour to night-class instructors, who were as follows:—Latin, 'Mf'Mc* Ilroy; commei'cial subjects, Mr Duff; 'cookery, Miss Grant; dressmaking, Miss Bell; freehand and mechanical drawing, Mr Hutton, N.8.A.A.M., London; mathematics, Miss Stott; engineering and machine -drawing and construction, Mr Kirkpatrick, A.C.S. •*ffii; carpentry, Mr Sandford; analytical and dairy chemistry, Mr A. H. Hustwick; elocution, Mr J. Ainslee.; cabinet making, Mr Riddles; English, Mr A. Gray; plumbing, Mr H. Smart. The report was adopted. Finance Committee's Report. The finance committee recommended that the secretary write to the various education boards and find out-what system they work under ,< in•> reference to: relieving teachers, and, allowances to teachers who have leave, of absence through sickness, and how they make up the deficiency, if any, an the funds at the end of the year; that owing to the small amount of the Board's purchases.,in .ironmongery, oils, etc., it was not advisable to call public tenders, and that the foreman be instructed to call private tenders for all supplies.
