A Body Found.
MOUNT COOK TRAGEDY,
NO TRACE OF THE OTHERS. (By Electric Teleguafh—Copyright] [United Press Association.] Timaru, February 26. ■Word was received in Timaru at 10.30 this morning that the body of Richmond, one of the guides lost on the Silberhorn, Mount Cook, on Sunday, has been found. j There is no trace of King, the tourist, or Thompson, the other guide. ! No details are to lumd yet. AVALANCHE SWEPT THE VALLEY. WATCH STOPPED AT 4.50. NO CHANCE OF RECOVERING THE OTHER BODIES. Christchurch, February 2<5. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes, has received the following message foxn Mr B. M. Wilson, at Mt. Cook Hermitage : "Chief Guide Graham has just returned to the Hermitage. He fuuni the body of Guide Richmond, but no signs of the others." The party had been overwhelmed by an avalanche falling on to the Linda Glacier from the top of tho dividing range north of the Dampier, and sweeping the valley for about a mile.
"Richmond's watch was smashed at 4.50 o'clock, which was about the time the party expected to be in the vicinity.
Graham does not consider that there is 'any chance of finding the bodies, of King or Thompson. \
