Lord Solborne, in the House of Lords, said the belief was prevalent that so-called political honors were actually hawked to rich men on condition that they ponti United to the party funds. The belief applied to both political parties. One of the greatest dangers to the democracy was both parties becoming absolutely dependent on enormous sums tor their existence. Lord Chamwood, as an amendment, moved the appointment of a Royal Commission. He said the Government had gone beyond precedent in giving honors regardless of party considerations.
