THE TARANAKI SHOW.

During the next few days New Plymouth will have a. very busy appearance, as the stock will hearriving for the opening of Taranaki’s great annual fixture, which commences to-morrow. It was a good move for the committee of the Society to alter the date of the show from the spring to the autumn. Owing to the busy season for the farmer,; being practically over, the farmer and his family are given an opportunity of seeing -this important fixture, which is of such great value to the district and to the settlers generally. The Taranaki Agricultural Society’s annual show has the reputation of being a first-class one, and this year will ho no exception. The show ground is in perfect order, and the stock to be exhibited will include some of the best to be seen in the southern hemisphere. The competitive events will also be up to the standard of the best shows in the Dominion, and as there will be numerous side 'shows to vary the entertainment, Wednesday and Thursday will l>e two days long to be remembered. The Xlth Regimental Band which has recenly returned from the Auckland Exhibition hand contest, has been engaged for the occasion. Special train arrangements have been made and excursion fares granted, which will give those living outside of Xew Plymouth an opportunity of visiting the show with little .inconvenience. On People’s Day (Thursday), the Society is to he honored by a visit from the Minister for Education, the Hon. James Allen, who has accepted an invitation to l)o present. Everything points to this year’s show being the most successful over held in the district, and now it only wants fine weather to make the attendance establish a now record for Taranaki.
