(Received 9.50 a.m.) Adelaide, February 18. Victoria in their second innings made 324 (Ryder 105, Souter, not out, 48). Bowling analysis: Crawford 9 for 97, Wilsmore 4 for 05. South Australia won by eighty-six runs. CRICKET. AUSTRALIANS AT HASTINGS. [Per Press Association.] Hastings, February 18 The morning broke beautifully fine for the cricket ■'match, Australia v. Hawke’s Bay, and there is a large attendance. The wicket is in firstclass condition. The teams are as follows:—Hawke’s Bay—Fulton, Blamires, Spackman, Creed, Hichens, Ellis ; Napier—Board, Blinko, Geake, and Hindmarsh. Australia—Armstrong, Cody, Dolling, Laver, McGregor, Mailey, McKenzie, Ransford. Sims, Trumper, Waddy. Blamires captained the home team, and Sims the visitors. Hawke’s Bay won the toss and Board and Creed opened to the bowling of Armstrong and Laver. Board sent Armstrong’s first hall to leg for 4, and 5 resulted from Laver’s first over. After half an hour’s play, the score was 35 for no wickets, being chiefly off Laver. With the total at 56, Mailey replaced Armstrong, but runs still came steadily. At 12.25, McKenzie bowled Creed (1 —22—77.) Hindmarsh, the next man, played Mailey’s second ball into Armstrong, who held it (2 —2—84). Fulton followed, and skied one to Waddy, who brought off a difficult catch (3 —2—92). Ellis joined 1 Board and was caught by Armstrong (4—4— 100). The century was raised after an hour and twenty; minutes’ play. Blamires placed a ball into McKenzie’s hands without scoring (5 —0—106). Board was stumped by McGregor after compiling 84 by good cricket (6 —84— 141). Next ball was fatal to Spackman, who was caught by McKenzie (7 —9 143.) Blinks joined Geake, but the latter’s bails were unshipped by Maif. ley’s first ball (&—0—143). Napier;was‘ the next man, hut the partnership was short, Blinks playing a hall on to his wicket. The luncheon adjournment was taken at this stage.
