SUNDRY SPORTS.

SWI .VI Ml NO. NIGHT OUT AT INGLEWOOD. Six Stratford swimmers journeyed to Inglewood last night to take pare in the local Club’s carnival. Dewar, Spratt, and Whittington, who travelled by motor cycle, arrived late, and missed their chance in the Maiden. Cecil Kivell won the 50yds and 220 yds open races, and Eric Kivell had no difficulty in winning the 100yds race, lie and Cecil Kivell being the only starters. Eric Kivell had a close light in the diving, being placed second after several extra dives. In the relay race E. H. Kivell, C. Kivell, Whittington and Dewar were hardly ‘class’ enough for the Inglewood team, who won by a good margin. The programme was concluded with a polo match, neither team being very expert at the game. However, Stratford was superior, and scored three goals, E. Kivell scoring two and Spratt one.

In a few remarks at the conclusion, Mr Bullard, the Club’s useful secretary, acknowledged the help of the Stratford contingent, and said Inglewood'would reciprocate at the Stratford carnival on Tuesday. The visitors were entertained at supper after the carnival, and all expressed themselves as having had a pleasant evening in every way.

Tho polo team expressed a. desire to again meet Stratford, and it is expected that a team will bo sent to the Stratford carnival.

A feature of the evening was the swimming of the ladies, of whom about twenty faced the starter. Some showed an excellent style, and all swam well. It is hoped that a number of them will compete at Stratford. If arrangements could he made to billet them overnight probably a good contingent would come through. C. E. Sea bright, who is well known for his plunging procilivities (in tho hath), made an attempt to set- up a new record, and he will, no doubt, repeat the attempt at Stratford. TUESDAY’S CARNIVAL. With the excellent entries received the success of next Tuesday eventing’s carnival is almost assured, for in all other respects, except as regards the weather, which is entirely in the lap of the gods, full arrangements have been made which' will ensure the complete comfort of competitors and spectators alike. A special feature is being made of the lighting arrangements, which are being carried out under the skilled supervision of Mr W. J. Newton, manager of the Electrical Supply Co., whose work represents a sub-1 s taut ini donation to the Swimming Club. If found necessary, lights aggregating 1000 c.p, will he hung, so that everybody can he fairly sure of seeing everything that goes on. The committee of the Club will spend the best part of Monday at the baths in doing navvy work of various descriptions.
