Vice-Admiral Sir George King-Hall, has tfeen placed on the retired list at his own request in order to make room for younger men, states a Times-Syd-ney Sun special cablegram. 'M r W. Perry, of Masterton, has been elected to represent the Wellington Prnvinical A. and P. Associations on the Hoard of Agriculture. Mr George-Spriggens was yesterday elected to till the vacancy on the Wanganui Borough Council caused by the death of Mr J. T. Muir. He polled 647 votes against 297 polled by David Conchie. Mr G. X. Curtis, chairman of the Domain Board, was not present at the annual meeting yesterday, but he was re-appointed chairman for the ensuing year, members being unanimous that he was the right man in the rightplace. Mr D. P. Fraser, of the local staff of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.', was last evening the recipient of a presentation from the local staff of the Company on the occasion of Ins retirement from the service to join his father in business in Timaru. Mr W. A. Hewitt, the local manager of the Company, in a few well-chosen words, wished Mr Fraser every success in his new sphere, and said how sorry he was to part with such a promising' officer. Mr Fraser suitably replied. Mr Fraser left by this morning’s train to Wellington en route for Timaru. Mr Philip Mcßarron, of the Masterton branch, succeeds Mr Fraser as book-keeper and cashier at the Stratford branch.
