INSTITUTION OF INQUIRIES. j [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, February 13. j Representations concerning the illtreatment ol' .Natives and the miscarriage of justice in the New Hebrides 'are now being made to the Colonial 'Secretary by Jacombober residents, jwho declare that the doges of the iVenice star chamber were mild compared to the outrages perpetrated in the Islands. A copy ni ! the ■correspondence will he furnished to the association for he protection of Natives races for consideration at the meeting on Monday. It is alleged no witnesses for the defence of the Natives are ever heard land that accused are followed and are not allowed to ho defended by counsel, (while they are unable to defend themselves owing to language difficulties. Sworn testimony will he given of third degree methods, which, if correc, woul cause an outcry even in China and Russia.
