Edwin Liddle Las been com mil tod lor trial for obtaining postal notes of 12s Gd each from three women under I false pretences. Liddle, advertising i largely as “The Silk Company,” offer* ed ten yards of silk for 2s Cd. I’luintilfs’ sent the orders and failed to receive the silk. Detectives gave evidence to the effect that they seized [over 200 money orders and many postal [notes from all the Australasian States at accused’s residence. A postal official stated that 18,542 letters wore awaiting delivery for the Ceylon Silk Company. A HUGE LAND DEAL, Melbourne, February 9. The Union Cool Stores Company, England, has purchased eight million acres of grazing property in the Kimberley district, Westralia, carrying 110,000 head of cattle. The company previously purchased a large adjoining property with 70,000 cattle.
