WANGANUI SESSIONS. : ri [Peb Peebb Association.] Wanganui, February 10. Tlie Supreme Court sessions opened here this morning before Judge Edwards. Only four criminal cases were set*, down, and his Honor congratulated the district on such a small ainbunt of crime. * DUNEDIN SESSIONS. '* i Dunedin, February 10. At the Supreme Court to-day, '< Roderick Munro and Janies Alfred Martin were convicted on a charge of stealing various articles from h tels. Sentence was deferred. Martin ..was-also convicted on anothei ■ charge of stealing an overcoat. Bot; accused were further charged with entering the dwelling of William Join Goughian (Crown Hotel) By nigiit with intent to steal. The jury r turned a verdict of guilty. John Thomson was charged wit! falsifying an Education Board certi ficdte with intent to deceive the railway authorities when applying for * work. The accused admitted the forgery, -out denied intent. The jury found a verdict for acquittal without leaving the box. Munro and Martin were sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on each chhrge, and to be afterwards detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding three years. Sentences to be concurrent. John McKay, charged with assault, whs found not guilty. ~ : CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS. i Christchurch, February 10. John Pritchard pleaded guilty to assisting Annie Brandt, at Marshlands, on January 1, so as to cause her 4ctual bodily harm, and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonmeqjii. "William Joseph Gaffey, who pleaded guilty to two charges of breaking aUd entering and theft, hau 30 convictions for drunkenness against
him. He was sentenced to six . months’ imprisonment. Frederick Jadkson, who was found guilty on the previous day of the theft of a motor bicycle, was sentenced to three «I|he Wellington sessions. Wellington, February 10, At. the Supreme Court, to-day, the re-trial of Samuel Thompson, charged ‘wifh 'taking part "in •'the' riot on Waterloo Quay, on October 30, resulted in his acquittal.
