John Ingram was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with being a rogue and a vagabond, in that without authority or knowledge of the person, proposed a benefit, and solicited subscriptions in aid of an old colonist who was said to be indigent circumstances. One of the people approached was the Hon. Mr Hell, who was called as a witUess. Ingram was convicted and ordered to j come up for sentence when called upon. Evelyn. Kitson, who when arrested du a charge of false pretences was found to be taking poison, was ordered to comb up for sentence when callini on on the charge of attempted suicide. He was remanded to appear at Hamilton on the charge of false pretences. Accused masqueraded as Lord limes Kerr at ’Frisco. Arthur Douglas, who pleaded guilty at Auckland to a number of burglary charges, appeared at the Court to answer 25 charges, mostly of breaking, entering, and theft. The total value of the articles stolen was £319. He was remauded till Friday.
