[alleged attempted suicide. i I Per Press Association.! Palmerston North, February 8. A young man naiut'd Murdock, 'supposed to bo a cook, attempted to commit suicide this afternoon in a vacant section by cutting his throat with a pocket knife. He was taken to the hospital in a precarious condition. SUPPOSED SUICIDE AT DUNEDIN Dunedin, February 8. The. body of a man about 55 years iof aye and about sft. Bin in height was found in Tahuna Parle this afternoon. There was an open razor in the right hand and a wound on the left wrist, but no report is given of other injury. The body was clothed |i,i a greenish checked suit, and there was ;s set of artificial teeth in one pocket. He appears to have beer, a working man, but there is no cine to his identity further than that the trouser-buttons are branded A. R. iPorter, lnvercargill. TRAMCAR FATALITY. Christchurch, February 8. Shortly after 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, a.man named George Westcott, well known about Christchurch, ran out of the Riccarton racecourse gate to try and catch a tramcar. Ho missi'd his hold and fell, and was run over by the trailer. lie, was taken to the hospital at once, hut was dead when admitted. At the inquest this afternoon a verdict was returned of ace: dental death. DROWNED ON THE BEACH. Oainaru, ebruary 9. A young man named Roy Patterson, son of Mr John Patterson, of the Telegraph Department, lnvercargill, was drowned while surf bathing at the Bushhy Beach yesterday. The body has not yet been recovered.
