BOWLING.
THE STRATFORD CLUB.
(By P. Steward.)
Since the Taranaki tournament the green has not been so well patronised, 'probably owing to the surfeit of playing since the Xmas holidays, and including the Wanganui tourney. Now, however, it is expected interest will become more general, and that the championship and Feathers games ivill occupy members' attention somewhat more seriously than lias been the case of late; indeed, it is surprising to see ihow few championship ties have been got off to date. Ho far. Morisen lias been most successful, having three wins to his credit in his section and no losses. But there is a lot of timber to lie shifted, and much bowling will 'run past the jack before the winners lof sections meet to play off for the coveted Curtis trophy. j The Hawera Club meet Stratford on our green on Wednesday, 1 JBth iust.
Two rinks from Stratford will compete in the Auckland tournament, February 24th, and the following names have been sent forward for entry:— J. Masters, ,). Reeve, G. Sangster, It. McK. MorisOn (s); J. Brake, W. H. 11. Young,. W. McDonald, G. Jackson (s). The Australian bowlers were accorded a civic welcome at Wellington today, states a Press Association telegram. This afternoon they are playing a match against Wellington rinks.
