ODDFELLOWSHIP.
POUATU LODGE, 1.0.0. F., A.C. The insallation of officers of the Pouatu Lodge took place at Wiiangamomona in the Town Hall on Thursday, 22nd lost., the ceremony being cdnoucted hy D.D.G.M. Hro. it. Hill Johnson, assisted by Bros. (L Beere and Ham iParitutu Lodge).
The following were installed:—• N.G., Bro. H. Montgomery; V.G., Bro. G. G. Nightingale; secretary, Hro. I). Wildermoth; treasurer, Bro. J. T. McCluggage; warden, Bro. A. MeMeekan; conductor, Bro. R. G. Fawkner; 1.G., Bro. E. Bray; ILS. to N.G., Bro. A. Hassall; L.S. to N.G.. Bro. W. Harris; II.S. to V.G., Bro. D. E. Brown; L.S. to \ .G., Bro. S. M. Mills; R.S.S., Bro. K. Jenkins; L.S.S.. Bro. J. Garlick,
The Installing Master congratulated the Lodge on its improvement, and predicted for it a successful future. He expressed the hope that members would work amicably together and assist the Medical Association in securing a doctor for Whangamomona and district.
Seven new members were initiated, and at the conclusion of the Lodge business, a pleasant time was spent in harmony, when songs and recitations, with a capital supper, helped to make the occasion one of the most enjoyable in the history of the Lodge.
The following programme was carried out: “The King,” proposed by the Chairman (Bro. Montgomery), was loyally toasted, and was followed by a song /by Bro. Fawkner. “The Grand Lodge” was in the hands of that enthusiastic Oddfellow, Bro. McMeekan, and needless to say he did it full justice. A song by Bro. London preceded the response by Bros. Hill Johnson and Beere. “Pouatu Lodge” was proposed by Bro, Johnson, and responded to by Bros. Montgomery and Wildermoth. Then came a recitation by Bro. Harris entitled “Cottage by the Hill,” one of this member’s best and most original and humorous compositions. “Sister Lodges” was proposed by Bro. McMeekan ,and responded to by Bros. Beere and Ham. “Parliament” was a toast that fell to Bro. Fawkner, and the proposer as well as the responders (Bros. Armstrong and McMeekan) made the best use of their time. Tb was’’ voted one of the best political talks for and against that could posihly he given at a function, of the kind. The item was thoroughly enjoyed. ;y Bro. Mills followed with a fhieirecitntion. “Pavitiitu Lodge” was oroposed by Bro London and responded to by; Bro. Hill Johnson. A reitation (“Humph”) by Bio. Brown ,was lenthusiastically encored. “New Members” was done lull justice to by f)ro;‘l\T(dVJeckan, 'who is known as- an to the backbone and one who has the interests of the Order thoroughly at heart. “'I he Ladies” was proposed by Bro. Fawkner, and •esponded to by Bros. P. Rogers, T. Bangdon, and Ham. “The Press” was proposed .hyv,|igfy Lnndpn, and •esponded to by Bros. Cruden and McMeekan. A song by Bro. AVildernoth 'A’as capably, rendered. The ’ which were ear/•ied on to the wee sma oors, were the most successful in the history of he Lodge.
