BOY FELL OFF A TRAIN.

A lad named Wilson, who was coming to Wanganui by the Auckland express was jerked from the platform ol the train at Porewa, near Marion, yesterday. He was not missed by those on the train. He fell heavily on his head and hands, but walked some distance to a house, where be collapsed and became unconscious. Medical aid was sought, and the lad was subsequently brought to the Wanganui hospital. No hones are broken, and the sufferer is progressing satisfactorily.
A MINER’S DEATH.
Rcefton, January 30
When the inquest on the man Downie, killed at the Energetic' mine on the 17th January was resumed, Evans, the general manager, recalled, refused to give details of the salaries paid. The coroner ruled the question irrelevant. No new evidence was elicited. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death, adding a rider to the effect that the accident was due to disobedience of the orders of the mine manager, and recommending as a safeguard to workmen that strict attention in future be paid to the mine manager’s orders. MISSING MAN FOUND. Wanganui, January 30. The body of Jas. Stevenson, who lias been missing since Monday, was found near Eaiwhaikc by natives this morning. An inquest will be hold tomorrow.
