A sensation was caused when it was (reported that Krupps was negotiating for the purchase of the Poutiloff works at St. Petersburg, which possess French artillery models, and which the Russian Government has since adopted. The report is denied from Berlin and St. Petersburg, but French opinion is not reassured. It is possible the report is traceable to Vickers receiving a concession to establish extensive works at Tacritsyn.
