A DOMESTIC QUARREL.
SERVANT CIRL AS DEFENDANT.
[Pee Press Association.!. Wanganui, January 27. A rather unusual case occupied the attention of the S..M. this morning, and was also interesting to domestic servants from England. When visiting England at the end of last year, -Mrs E. Stone engaged • two sisters as do- ' mestic servants, and paid a portion of their passage money and other expenses on arrival at Wellington at the beginning of this year, amounting in all to £8 16s 6d. Arriving in Wanganui the defendant. Edith Keene, stayed •with plaintiff for about one week, leaving without notice at midnight. Plaintiff stated tUajt an agreement was entered into between the parties that defendant should remain in plaintiff's service for two years and should give two months' notice to refund expenses. Defendant denied signing an agreement, and explained her conduct by. saying that she 'could not stand it any longer, and asserted she was not, well treated. Mr Kerr, S.M., gave judg-j lnent for £5 17s 2d, with £1 16s costs.
