THE TOLL OF THE SEA.
SINKING OF THE ACELIA. e (Received 8.50 a.m.) Berlin, January IS. Reports from Hamburg states that the bodies of the third officer and a sailor belonging to the .Acelia were picked up in the Straits of Magellan. A quantity of wreckage was found. Natives report that a big steamer sank in the vicinity.
MAYFLOWER’S CREW RESCUED.
London, January 17. The Lusitania saved the crew of ■ight of tho schooner Mayflower, which was burnt off the Maine coast.
THE VOLTURNO INQUIRY.
London, January 17
The Court found that the Volturuo’s passengers behaved well, and that the officers and crew performed their duties bravely, under exceptional difficulties. They praised the gallantry of the rescuers.
The Court considered that the fire, possibly, was due to an escape of barium snporoxidc, which hurst into flames.
