LONDON WOOL SALES.

Loudon, January 18.
At the wool sales 45,993 bales were catalogued and 42,698 sold. There was a strong market with good merinos very firm in sellers’ favor. Crossbreds were five per cent, above December rates.® The following prices were realised for fleece portions of the clips named; —Kaupo top 12<L average' ll|d; Drommore, 121, average lljd.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT

The High Commissioner’s cable, dated January 17th, states inter aiia:
Butter.—-The market is rather quiet and irregular. Buyers are scarce for New Zealand. They are cautious on account of large shipments afloat. There is poor demand for Danish at 125 sto 1,285. The X.Z. market is quiet at 116 d to 118 s. Australian is in fair demand at 110 s to 114 s, Siberian 108 s to 112 s. Unsalted Australian and New Zealand are Is to 2s higher than salted.
Cheese.— I The market remains firm with good demand. Canadian white GSs to 695, colored 69s to 70s; New Zealand white 65s to 665, colored 66s to 675.- hi;
