DROWNED WHILE FISHING.

A labourer named John Irvine was drowned in the harbour on Saturday evening. He was fishing from a dinghy and was anchored near the steamer Hauroto in company frith two brothers named Lynch. The'dinghy was rocked by a wave, and Irvine becoming excited stood up and the dinghy capsized. Life buoys were thrown from the Hauroto, and a hulk-keeper hurried to their assistance in a boat. Irvine was drowned and the Lynch brothers, who had done their best to save their companian, were picked up by the launch.
ARSENIC SELF-ADMINISTERED.
Wellington, January 19
At the resumed inquest on Philip Angel, Mr McLanriu, the Government analyst gave evidence of the finding of a large quantity of arsenic and other ingredients composing Rough on Rats mixture in the stomach. A verdict of death from arsenic self-administered was '.returned.
NORTHCOTE BUS ACCIDENT
Auckland, January 19. Horses in the ’bus plying at North-rote-bolted on Saturday evening. The •.•chicle capsized and the bus was damaged beyond repair. James Hall, railway porter, had his leg broken; a .Maori woman sustained a broken arm ; Mrs Milford had three ribs broken; Mrs Joshua Jackson, of Pukekohe, is •.offering from a bruised shoulder and cuts on her face; Mrs Hulbert, bruised shoulder; an infant named Gill, cuts m ’face. Hall was removed to the hospital.
