Mr Newton King's Report.
On Tuesday, January 13th, I held iiiy usual four weekly sale of above produce, the catalogue comprising •50 bales and 114 sacks wool, 1819 ■hcenskiiis, 593 hides, 9 basks and l 8 dns * tallow, 479 calfskins and the isual assortment of hair, tails, etc. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was brisk throughout. Wool. —Prices were firmer and showed an advance of id, and m ,ome cases to a Id per lb. on December rates. Lambs wool was in keen demand, selling up to 9-id, practical!} the whole of the catalogue being cleared under the hammer. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 14th inst.:— v
Tallow.—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions' Good mutton 34s Gd per cwt, good beef 3 is, mixed 335. The market is quiet. Wheat.—We have sold an Australian cargo at 35s 6d c.i.f. The market is firm. There is a fair demand but the outlook is uncertain. *■-
