N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY GO'S KEPOIIT
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows:
On Tuesday, 13th inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when we yarded 338 head of cattle, disposing of 49 head. Prices were as follows:—15 to 18 months steers 63s to 76s 6d, store cows, for which there is a keen demand, made on small and low conditioned from 50s up to 67s 6d, ordinary sorts 70. x up to 955, forward cows 99s up to 1435, fat heifers up to 117 s, bulls 795, 80s, 995, 105 s, 116 s, 127 s 6d, 1325, J3ss, Lis, 1595, 185 s up to 210 s. There appears to be an unsatisfied demand for bulls.
We hold our usual monthly sale of wool ,sheepskins, hides, and calfskins on Tuesday, 13th inst., when we had a fair catalogue of 112 hales and 32 hags wool and the usual quantity of sheepskins, hides, etc. There was a largo attendance of buyers and competition was keen for fair clean linos, hut owing to owners placing high reserves on their wool we were obliged to pass same. However, a fair clearance was effected at full market rates as follows:—T.W.M., 4 bales nice wool B'idj J L, 4 bales Bjd ; G K, over W, 4 hales at 8d; T H over H, 19 hales, little seedy, at Bjd ; Manga, 7 hales at 84d | G W over K, 12 hales at Bd. We had no light clean lines catalogued, The above prices are well up to London present values. Crutchings 5d to 53d,- bellies 4}d to 5-}d, locks 3Jd to 4d, dead wool 6}d to T.Jd, pieces Id to ojd, lambs wool in sacks lip to SUI, horsehair Is 6d to Is 7d. Sheepskins, fair wool, with good pelts 7s, 6s 3d, 5s (id, 5s 5d ; medium wool ss, 4s 9d, Is (id, 4s 3d ; poor pelts, little wool, 2s lid, 3s Id to 4s; butcher's pelts 2s I'd, 2s 3d, 2s 5d ; lambs skins, pelty, 2s sd, 2s, Is 9d, Ls 6d; cowhides, light weights, 225, 31s 2d, 355; dry hides 355; fleshy 23s to 245; badly flayed 21s to 255; yearling 5s to 7s 6d; calf•duns, light and small, 2s, 2s sd, 2s Btl, 3s Id; medium 3s Gd; fair quality .'is 7d to 4s; good up to 4s 6d; cut and inferior Is 9d, 2s 3d; tallow in tins 21s to 235. ■:■■•■
On Wedrtesdny, 14th inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our To Wora yards, when we yarded 240 head of catlie, selling 136. 15 to 18 months steers 60s, 67s 6d, up to 71s; 2\ year steers 98s ; 2 year old empty heifers 86b ; store cows 57s up to 85s; hulls 42s to 62s Od; bullocks 1755.
During the week we have sold stock privately as follows: 2 tooth wethers I3s'6tl to 14s; 4 tooth wethers up to 16s ; dry owes 10s, I.os 6d and lis ; f.in. s wes for forward delivery, culls 6s f)d up to lis 9d; 2 tooth ewes 15s 3d, 15s Gd, and 16s; ewes and, lambs 2;?s; 18 months steers 70s, 72s 6d, 77s 6d ;' 2 to 2} year steers 00s to 102 s 6d ; 8 to 3} year hulloeks £7, £7 7s, £7 10s up to £9; hulls 90s; store cows 90s'; 15 months heifers sfis to 67s Gd ; Hol■tein heifers 92s 6d. LONDON WOOL SALES. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th instant:—
There was a good attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers Seine; active and prices as compared with the close of preceding series ruled n sellers' favour for crossbreds; merino "unchanged. The opening catalogues vere fairly representative.
