THE ELECTRIC LIGHT.
[To The Editor Stratford Post. J Sir, —Although a great 'deal of correspondence has appeared in your columns regarding the electric light and the question of Borough against Comity lias been sedulously fostered, not a single line has been written on the side of County with the Borough. Herein "lies the solution of the- question. Putting aside the Electric Light Company, who may be regarded as practically a negligible third party so long as it has no license from the Government or monopoly over the County, the County and T'Orough should work hand in hand for the, supply of current over theii respective areas. Difficulties no doubt exist, and if I were chairman of ■ the Electric Light Company I should urge those difficulties for all they were worth. But these difficulties can be overcome. At the present moment the Borough is by far the greater consumer of both power and light. .But I can foresee in the very near future, by the time, in point of fact, when the Borough concession runs out, the County will •be nearly as great a consumer, and in a very few years aft.er the County will be a much greater consumer of power than the Borough. A few years ago the agreement between the Borough Council and the Electric Light Company seemed a good thing ''and no doubt it was), for the Borough, but now we are looking forward to the time when the concession shall run* out. Our coneesdon was for twenty-one years. The proposed concession to the County is to be for double that time, or in other words will extend probably btv vond the lives of any of the contracting parties. Such an agreement is not to 1)0 lightly entered into. There is time between now and the expiry of our present concession for i good satisfactory agreement to be thought out. There is no need fo; hurry.—l am, etc.,
H. WILSON
