[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times—Sydney Sun Special Cables. (Received S a.m.)
London, January 12

tellectual scale are recruited, and pressing is resorted to, many criminals being transferred from prison into the army. The officers are incredibly slack. A battle in which the Fed era Is used machine guns forced the rebels to re-
tire. The nature of the country made it easy to cut off their retreat, but the colonel looked at his watch and said it was dinner time, and told the bugler to sound the Cease Fire! leisurely retiring to the army, accompanied by hordes of women and lads, pots and pans, blankets, and, sometimes babies. These form the commissariat.
