The concluding day’s programme yesterday was again most successfully managed. Once again beautiful weather was experienced, and there was a big crowd, not so big as on the opening day, but with only slightly (decreased spending power as evidenced by the returns on the totalisator. The sum of £14,597 was put through yesterday, which, with £15,928 on the first day, made a grand total for the meeting of £30.525, an increase of £8751 on the amount handled last year. Messrs. Marett and Fox and staff capably dealt with “the stuff,’ 1 ias the average punter classes our good coin of the realm. The President and his executive were, as usual, right there when there was anything to be attended to, and the- result was | that the events were generally got off well to time, although the last race ! was twenty minutes late. Two or j three matters were dealt with by the stewards, and these no doubt accounted i for the slight delay. The public did j not complain, which, after all, is the | main consideration in these outings. ! The secretary, Mr A. Coleman, and | staff were running along smoothly in their work, and with the various departments must claim no little credit for the success of the meeting. The starting of Mr Cameron was again • a pleasing feature of the day’s sport. | The Xlth Regimental Band played fine selections during the afternoon. A great many cars were taken to the ground on both days', find on the first day a tally showed a total of : ninety-one. Car-owners expressed 1 satisfaction with the arrangements,J which include a round turn for con--Ivenience in turning.

NOTES ON THE RACING.

The Welter goes to Florist.

The Toko Welter Hack Handicap, of 9U sovs, seven furlongs, opened proceedings for the day. Patroness, Sweet Van, Florist, San Due, Glentullock and Salathiel were sorted out in that .order by the public for prominence on the machine. Glentullock was left uv- the post in what was otherwise a good despatch. Florist led all the way, with Sweet Van second ail the way. The favorite was third going along the back, but San Due, who had been last, ran into third after a wide turning at the bend. Florist was three lengths in front of Sweet Van, who led San Due by two lengths at the post. Florist was trained by her owner, T. Pine. Tyson Annexes Cardin Stakes. Thirteen saddled up for the Cardiff stakes of 70 sovs, four turlongs and a quarter. Dr. Paget’s Carloman was the favorite, with Brunswick not far behind, and of the others Tyson, Martingale, and Zion all had a fair following. After a break away by Brunswick at the barrier, the field were despatched on a half straggling start, St. Hubert getting a very bad deal. Tyson, Brunswick and Martingale were in the lead as the held settled down, and this order was maintained until close up to the winning post when Patronata went up with a rush into third place, Zion was four and Charlemagne fifth, AVhanga whip, ping in the field. The winner was trained by T. Pine. Zetes in the Ngaere,

The Ngaere Handicap, of 125 sovc i (open), six furlongs,- brought out four j competitors—Zetes Btl2, Tetikura <”.2, j Red. Lupin 7.1 U, and Boronia 6.7, I backed in that order. After an even (start, Zetes wont quickly to the front with Red Lupin accompanying him, Boronia next and Tetikura last. This order was maintained half-way down the straight, when Tetikura came fast, running into a length behind Zetes, Boronia three lengths away, beating Red Lupin by a length. It was a fairly fast race as j die time 1 1.1-1 1-5) shows. The winner was trained bv M. Gardner. The

stewards held an inquiry regarding a complaint by .1. dames against C. Jack-son-alleged breach of engagement to ! ride, but the complaint was not entertained. Timothy over the Sticks, The Makuri Hurdle Hack Handileap. of 100 sovs, one mile and a half, brought out live competitors, who were fancied according to the machine in the following order—Kurnalpi, Timothy, Floss, Loopline and Warea. Loopline mid Floss went into the lead and Warea displaced the latter for | second position. Entering the straight for the brst time Timothy was leading with Warea and Loopline \\ Ton Warea struck the ier.oc, aid hi»

rider after a game attempt to retain his seat came off. Going on, Timothey and Kurnalpi raced together with Loopline a bad third and Floss iu the rear. Timothy appeared to hold plenty in himself, and over the last fence he lost Kurnalpi, eventually winning by half a dozen lengths, Loopline quite three lengths away third, Timothy was trained by his owner, 0. Cox. Another Win for Simple Sam. The Strathmore Hack Handicap, of 80 sovs, five furlongs, produced nine of a field, Bradamante being the public’s best fancy,-although Rector Girl, Lady Ami, and Simple Sam in that order had a very decent following. Galtee and Lady Ami were first away from the barrier in a good start. Before the field had gone a furlong, Galtee got bumped on to the rails and his rider, Clark, was thrown over the rails, and sustained injuries necessL tating a few stitches being put in a >voiiud in his head. Gal tee continued on his own behind the field until stopped on the track. After the mishap the order in front was Simple Sam, Lady Ami, Bradamante and Rector Girl. Simple Sam led into the straight, and had to be shaken up to hold half a length advantage at the post from Crawford, who put in a strong run at the finish, and beat Rector Girl for second place by half a length. The field were bunched close up; The winner was trained by R. Johnson. In connection with thcaccident, the stewards held an inquiry and as a result fined Henderson, the rider of Simple Sam. £lO for careless riding. Rewf Poto’s Race.

The big'event of the day, the Dominion Handicap, of 150 sovs, one mile and 110yds, saw eight face the barrier. Ngatiruanui was made a hot favorite with Rewi Poto second, White Crane third, Styrax, Muiga Bill, Invader, Aruake and Minora in that order. As usual the favourite played yp at the barrier, being most times Bced the wrong way round. However, thanks to Mr Cameron’s patience, eventually he got the crowd away in a splendid line, for which he was heartily applauded. Rewi Poto, White- Crane, Muiga Bill was the order past the stand. The field ran wide and Aruake was occupying third position along -the ■ back where the field was strung out, the favorite being last. The finish , saw no change in the order,' Rewi Poto, White Crane and Aruake. White Cx-ane pushed along ip the straight but Rewi Poto responded to his call, and won comfortably jby’.three lengths,. Ai;uake, being three lengths .back, . Inyadcr fourth, Ngatiruamd ,fiffh, Afulga Bill sixth, Styi-ax seventh, apd, Afinorg last. It .was, a., popular win. , Rewi Poto was trained, hy R. Johnson. Foi* Gentlemen Riders. The 1 Ladies’ Purse Hack Handicap of 60sovs, six furlongs, gave the gentlemen riders an outing. ' There were nine to jump off well in line, Pikitaepk, being a shade late stepping off. Silver Hope led to the turn' when Butcher Boy got in front, and being vigorously ridden 1 to stave off a late run by Pikitaepa-got home by a neck. John Willie was a length away third. The second horse was favourite, Butcher Boy being next in demand. It was a".good betting event. Butchei Boy was trained by P. Johnson. The special trophy of the value of £5 went to Mr Anstis, rider of the winner. Punters’ Last Hope. ’ V". The County Hack Handicap, 90sovs, six furlongs, the-concluding event on | the programme, was the best betting event of the- day, the sum of £2390 being invested on the machine. In order, of fanCy Wild Lupin held pride of place, then came Gerberga,, Ratana, Ridicule, Conney and Patroness. Conney was hung up in the tapes and two others were tailed off. Ratana, Gerberga and Wild Lupin went immediately into the lead, and the order was the same entering the straight, but Patroness had gone into fourth place. Gerberga gradually wove Ratana down and had half a length on the post, about a length separating Ratana and Wild Lupin. The winner was trained by R. Barlow. Stable- Winnings.
