A man has been committed for trial for stealing £l. The prosecutor is the wife of a Presbyterian minister. She gave evidence that she gave accused a pound to put 10s on a horse in a race. It won, but he failed to produce the money. ’ In reply to questions, the prosecutor stated that she had attended races weekly for nine years. Sbe had not asked for her husband’s sanction. He was a free lance and she was a free lance. Each went their own way. The Church did not give her hpsband enough to support her, not even enough to support himself properly. Her hushfind did nob mind her attending races, and he shared her winnings, which were used to keep up the home.
