CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS.

POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT.

Postal Branch.—Thursday, December 25 and January 1. (Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) will he observe ed as close holidays. . On Friday, December 26tli (Boxing Day), the Post Office will be open in all its branches, except money orders and savings bank from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Telegraph Office.■‘—The telegraph, office will he open on Thursday, the 25th inst (Christmas Day) from 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. On Friday (Boxing Day) and Thursday (New Year’s Day), the' hours will he from 9 a.m. to 10 a.rn. and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. jj Mails.—Mails usually despatched on Thursdays will be closed Wednesday, nights 24th and 31st inst., at 8 p.m.

By special arrangements Xmas anil New Year’s wireless greetings telegrams will bo exchanged (between .New Zealand and the Commonwealth. The text of the Christmas greetings telegrams must consist of not more, than four words to read “Compliments fof Season,” or’“Christmas Greetings,”; and the text of New Year’s greetings telegrams must read, of the Season” or “New Year's ings,” as the sender may desire. .A. brief but sufficient address and signature will be transmitted free.
