CONDITIONS ON THE WEST COAST. CONFERENCE PROCEEDING. [Pek Pkkbs association.] Wostpoit, December 23. The delegates from the coal miners on the West Coast are, still sitting in conference, considering matters in relation to resinning work., Xo decision was announced up to noon. The Union Company, announced to the miners' representatives.: "We are going to protect ourselves in regard to eoal. Arrangements art 1 now in train by which-we can immediately close an order for sufficient to keep us. going for some months."

Thirty uion at tho Seddonvillo State mine commenced work this morning loading slack into trucks to supply a Union Company order. Three shifts will be worked. It is understood that the men are ready to enter the mines .when the whistle blows.

CHRISTCHURCK MATTERS Christelrurch, December 23. Enrolment ion/is ol'liie Arbitration Union were distr.'linted in the strikers' camp to-day. , Some filled them in, but the men are not accepting the conditions readily. They feel that under the system of supervision and ballot in connection with the enrolment victimisation will occur.

The port is busy io-day. The workers, including a number of ex-strik-ers and many members of the arbitration union do not intend to remain over New Year.

WORK SCARCE IN AUCKLAND.

NEW YEAR WILL BE BUSY.

Work on the waterfront is scarce. Many of the former strikers were gathered on the wharves to-day, but dispersed when a notice was posted up stating that no applications for membership in the new union will be considered until after the New Year holidays.

A busy period is expected after the holidays.
