Dr. Newman, chief medical officer of the Education Board, reports that of (j,UOU,UOO school children examined, ten per cent possessed defective eyesight, two per cent, defective hearing, two per cent, suppurating ears, ten per cent, adenoids, one per cent, ringworm, one per cent, tuberculosis, thir-ty-five per cent, heart disease, while requiring attention by a dentist were over fifty per cent. Half a million were physically undermined owing to malnutrition.
