A CONSTABLE DROWNED.

Constable Carson, of the Auckland police, was drowned while bathing with two comrades off the Marine Parade at Devonport this afternoon. Deceased was a single man, with only two years' service, and he had not long been stationed in Auckland.

ELDERLY MAN'S DEATH.

Christ church, December 12

Shortly before two o'clock this afternoon, an elderly man named James Scott, a resident of Ferry Road, Wooiston. was walking along Selwyn Terrace, Lyttelton, with the intention of attending the funeral of an old friend, when he suddenly dropped dead on the footpath.
