HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

LOCAL BILLS DAY. [Per Press Association.] Wellington. December 8. The House met at 10.30 this morning for the consideration of local Bills. Mr Fisher introduced the Customs Bill, which was read a first time. It was explained that it was a purely consolidating measure. In reply to Mr Russel, the Minister stated that the Department haci represented the Bill as being nec>ssary to meet the modern developments of business. He hoped the Bill \yqujd pass this session. The Hon Hemes introduced the Native Land Claims Adjustment LMi. which was referred to the Native Affairs Committee.

The following local Bills were pat through all,stages:—Napier Haf>or Board Empowering and Loan Bill (Mr Campbell")";' ■ Lyttelton Harbor BoH'd Land Bill (Mr Nosworthy); Christchurch Domains Amendment Bill (Mr Davey); Gisborne Borough and Hatl)or Board Lands Exchange And Empowering Bill (Mr MacDonald); Wanganui Borough Council Special Kat< Empowering and Special Loan Bill (Mr Veitch); Tuakitito • and Kaitangata Lakes Act, 1911 Amendment Bill (Hon. Mr Allen); Auckland Weekly Half Holiday ; The Christchurch Tramway District Amendment, and the Foxton Harbor Board Loan Bills were withdrawn.

The amendments made by the Legislative Council in the Railways Con-struction,-and Land Bill wqre agreed to. The amendments made in the Water Supply Amendment Bill were disagreed with, v and; a. conference was. 4 asked for bv Mr Eraser,. ~-■.■
